The Biden administration has unveiled a new Covid vaccination plan for children aged 5 and under that will be including 10 million vaccination doses to be administered by the Food and Drug Administration.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has decided to approve the vaccination shots in order to immunize the youngest population of the United States of America.
A press statement released by the White House stated that they are all set to start the rolling out of the vaccination for the children aged below 5 from the 20th of June if the rollout is approved by the CDC and the FDA. The White House is expecting an approval by next week.
According to the new Covid vaccination plan, 10 million doses of vaccine will be circulated across the country to be administered to this particular age group and millions more are expected to be made available in the coming weeks.
The doses will be in complete kits and will be accompanied by all the necessary items and supplies such as needles etc. which are specially manufactured for young children.
The White House is planning to make sure that the vaccine is abundantly available across the country so that almost 85% of the young children have access to the vaccine shorts. It is also ensured that vaccination sites will be propped at a distance of 5 miles so that the mass population can get vaccinated easily.
The White House announced that it is also planning to engage the parents of the children under 5 to get complete information about the vaccine and trust the sources as the campaign gets launched worldwide.
The statement stated, “the Administration will continue to work with trusted messengers, including pediatricians, to make a concerted effort to ensure that all families have answers to their questions and know about the importance of getting their children vaccinated.”
According to a poll conducted this April by the Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), more than 18% of the parents are eager to get their children under five vaccinated on an immediate basis. Another 38% of the parents voted that they will “wait a while to see how the vaccine is working for others.”
A whopping 27% of the parents have decided not to get their young children vaccinated and another 11% declared that they will go with the flow and will be going for vaccination only when it becomes mandatory.
The reports revealed that Pfizer and Moderna had applied for a license to be administered on emergency usage for their mRNA vaccination for the group of children under five. This was the need of the time because about 87% of the children who got infected by the omicron variant in the last wave of coronavirus were not vaccinated.
