According to reports, on Friday night, three gunshots occurred in Petersburg, Virginia in which at least six people sustained injuries, including children. As a result, local authorities requested assistance from the Virginia State Police.

Petersburg Police confirmed to WRIC that one adult was shot in the initial shooting, which occurred on Fort Mahone Street, behind a Wendy’s restaurant. A few minutes later on Hilly Hill Drive, four individuals, including three children, were shot.

On Boydton Plank Road, another adult was shot.

The three children are estimated to be between the ages of 12 and 13 by authorities.

“It’s real tough. We’re being told that we’ve got adults as well as children,” said Petersburg Police Chief.

According to officials, it is still unclear whether the three shootings were linked.

The conditions of the victims have not been released yet to the public.

The Virginia State Police were brought in to aid with the investigation, and there was a large police presence at the location. There have been no arrests and no leads have been uncovered.

About 20 miles south of Richmond, Petersburg is a city of over 30,000 people.
