A United States Park Police helicopter was landed in the middle of the Washington DC highway in order to rescue an officer who crashed his motorbike.

According to the reports, the officer crashed his motorbike on I-395 near Maine Avenue approximately 6:30 p.m.

A United States Park Police Eagle helicopter quickly responded to transport the injured officer to the nearby hospital.

The reports stated that the injured police officer has been given initial treatment and is out of critical condition. His injuries were non-life-threatening.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash but the rescue operation did cause a delay in the traffic movement in the area.

A video footage captured by a driver who was on the opposite side of the highway showcased the helicopter making an emergency landing on the pavement of the Washington DC highway while the blades of the helicopter were still moving. There was an extraordinarily heavy police presence in the area which caused the traffic to be halted at the place where the crash took place.

The video did create a panicked situation among the viewers but it was quickly clarified that it was just a rescue operation for the strangled motorbike officer after the crash.

The US Park Police have about 20 motorbike officers along with one lieutenant and two sergeants for the metro area of Washington DC.

The motorcyclist officers are supposed to ride on their bikes throughout the year-round and work in close proximity with the other law enforcement agencies such as the Metropolitan Police of Washington DC, the State Department which escorts the President of the United States of America, and the Vice President and the Secret Service.
