As the country’s daily new cases climb up, experts warn that the US is soon going to face a third coronavirus peak. Compared to the past three months, last week had the highest rate of coronavirus infections in the US.
More than 60,000 cases were reported on Tuesday, making it the third consecutive day with an increasing number of cases. The weekly average of positive cases is also up to almost 59,000, the highest since July.
Hardly getting a chance to recover from summers, it is now feared that the US has already entered a third wave of the deadly pandemic. So far, the virus has taken more than 225,000 lives in the US and the country accounts for more than a fifth of all coronavirus cases in the world.
It is expected that things are going to get worse as states which had previously curbed the spread of the virus are now reporting an increased rate of infection. Experts warn that the country is up for an extremely difficult fall and winter.
Like the US, cases in the European region also started to rise two weeks ago. The surge in EU may very well be a warning of what the US might have to face in a week.
Renowned immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci had previously warned multiple times that the US was not ready to enter fall due to its high number of cases. According to experts, fall and winter are the seasons when coronavirus is most likely to spread due to an increased number of indoor gatherings.
By next week, the US could be recording up to 70,000 new cases daily. Ten states in the US recorded their highest number of hospitalizations on Tuesday.
Even though the death rate has dropped significantly that is probably because nurses and doctors now have a better understanding of how to deal with the virus.
It is feared that the next few weeks are going to be the darkest and toughest of the entire pandemic.
