The fight that turned out between Aleksander Rakic and Anthony Smith was anything but what the audience was expecting from it. Rakic not only defeated Smith but also, making sure that his victory was unquestionable.
The UFC fight night in Las Vegas was expected to be a fight between two equal competitors but as the event unfolded itself, it turned into one-sided fighting as Rakic established his dominance over his opponent.
Since the beginning of Round one, Rakic started attacking Smith with kicks which resulted in Smith kicking him back but which were countered by Rakic in a way that Smith came to the ground. From his early win in the first round, he used beastly physical strength to maintain him on the ground.
The same happened in the second and third rounds where he kept Smith to the ground and attacked him with fierce punches. Out of the 15 minutes of the three rounded events, Rakic kept Smith to the ground for more than 12 minutes.
Later he declared that he wanted to show that he was not only a good fight but had equally good control on the ground as well.
The last light heavyweight champion Jon Jones left the title so Rakic had his eyes on the belt. The former champion had been an all-over champion other than the time when his issues got in the way and he lost his fight and shifted to heavyweight.
Anyone with remarkable wins can fight for the title now and Rakic is ready to snatch it.
He said that the belt would be his because he will be winning Reyes vs. Blachowicz’s title and claiming the belt in the next fight.
While he threw 136 punches at Smith, out of the 20 that landed on him from his opponent, only one punch was impressive but he managed to get back on track even just after receiving it.
This was an important win for him because now, he has 13 wins over a single lost fight against Volkan Oezdemir last year.
