It all started when Elon Musk gave ‘serious thoughts‘ to creating an entirely new social media platform as the top priority that would promote free speech, allowing everyone to have their say on the debate of the world’s future.

Elon Musk did that in response to the failure of Twitter to not adhere to the free speech principles. At first, It felt more like the Elon Musk and RatCoin saga, which just shook the crypto fans to their core, as they were by the corner to invest in the rumored Elon Musk cryptocurrency.

However, Elon Musk denied all the claims of owning RatCoin, and so did the matter closed. But those ‘serious thoughts’ of Elon Musk on creating a new social media platform didn’t stop and had the owner of Tesla continuously made headlines with each passing day.

From tweeting against the Twitter propaganda to announcing him taking over the most (9.1%) Twitter shares after 21 and not ten days, Elon Musk was determined to the core to providing the users of the micro-blogging sites a platform where they are free to share their opinions.

That determination got official when Elon offered to buy Twitter for a staggering sum of $40 billion and reached an agreement with Twitter to own the micro-blogging site for $44 billion a few days ago.

Followed by the endorsement from Jack Dorsey, the former CEO of Twitter, Elon bought Twitter to implement four primary changes. Or should we call them the goals that he could only achieve after spending a not-so-vast chunk-of-amount-for-him from his wealth?

Here’s what he intends to change on Twitter to fulfill his word that he tweeted as a critic and the voting polls he executed for the suggestions of people.

Open-source Twitter Algorithms

The first change that Elon Musk deems crucial at Twitter is to make the site open-source. Elon believes it is up to people to customize their feed, whether they want to see it in chronological order, or they prefer the opposite.

He also executed a voting poll in late March, where he asked his followers if they would fancy using an open-source version of Twitter, and as expected, the results exceedingly favored Musk’s opinion.

Not to forget the support of the former Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey, who further encouraged Elon on endeavoring to make Twitter open source. Elon, in a TED talk, emphasized putting the code of Twitter on Github, which would give users the liberty of molding the application to their preference, another pointer to how he intends to make Twitter’s algorithm open-source?

He further enunciated that the demotion or promotion of a tweet must not be kept from the people, after all that’s what freedom of speech means to Elon Musk, and that he intends to implement with him taking over the source of sensational headlines.

Place or Embed an Edit Button

If you are a Twitter user, you would know how valuable and useful would it be to have an edit button with the Tweets. Elon Musk, with his take over on Twitter, targets adding this button as one of the most sensitive priorities.

Not to neglect the fact that Twitter had received many complaints and suggestions about adding the edit button, but barely made progress with it. However, when Elon Musk took to Twitter with a voting poll stating ‘Do you want an edit button?’ Twitter got more conscious of working with the idea, evident by Twitter’s CEO, Parag Agarwal quoting Musk’s poll as ‘The consequences of this poll will be important, please vote carefully.’

Twitter had its reasons for not adding the edit button, for it would have disturbed their inspiration with the site, which has been more like texting, that’s once sent, can’t be undone. Nevertheless, now that Elon Musk owns Twitter, you should expect to see the button real soon.

Get Over with the Crypto Scams

This is probably the biggest and the fastest change that Elon Musk would do. It is because the crypto scams have a personal relationship with Elon Musk. You can find hundreds of thousands of profiles named after Elon, and promoting crypto scams, just like one with the RatCoin.

Elon furiously pointed out that Twitter has been busy introducing NFT profile pictures, and other unnecessary features rather than countering crypto scams that have been looting people in his name. Elon is quite focused on dealing with and eradicating the spam bots from Twitter, recognizing real humans on the micro-blogging site.

His tweet depicts his passion as he vows on defeating the spambots or die trying.

Promote Free Speech

The foundation of everything that Elon has done to buy Twitter. His perspective on freedom of speech is quite explicit, as he wants every single user of Twitter to opinionate themselves without the fear of getting blocked or even permanently banned.

He is totally against whether one should share this or not, and for this very reason, he has been running polls and tweeting to find out what people think about it. Though the results of polls and replies to his endeavors didn’t favor him much, he is not alone to raise his voice against Twitter hiding, deleting, or shutting down factual voices.

However, he is now the owner of Twitter, and it is up to him to mold the application the way he wants. And he will surely remove all the barriers that promote or demote the word of anyone, provided his dedication to not falling prey to the scheme set by Twitter.

Conclusion

Freedom of speech, making Twitter open-source, offering an edit button with tweets, and getting over crypto scams are the four things that Elon Musk aims to amend or change as his first thing as the owner of Twitter.

He will take every essential step to ensure the policies that will be made fall in the favor of users, and that they have complete freedom of sharing their opinions, customizing the site, and editing their words without the fear of getting abandoned by Twitter.
