Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that two state agencies had received multiple reports regarding migrant children being subjected to sexual harassment at a San Antonio makeshift facility.
He has directed the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to investigate the sexual assault allegations.
He has made a legitimate appeal to the White House to close down the San Antonio migrant facility where many children were allegedly harassed. In a press conference on Wednesday, he claimed that an investigation into sexual harassment allegations is already underway.
Different media outlets had reported the despicable living conditions of the migrant facilities in the country. More than 4000 people, including children, have been placed in makeshift facilities that can only house a few people.
There has been an unprecedented surge in the number of migrants crossing over to the U.S. from Mexico. The Biden Administration has received harsh criticism for not addressing the issue adequately.
These problems are a direct result of the President’s open border policies and have expanded far beyond the realm of his control, claimed Abbot. He further added that different complaints were sent to two departments, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission highlighting different forms of child abuse.
In an elaborate statement, Abbot proclaimed that the Texas Government had received a large number of complaints about the migrant facilities. Some of the most problematic issues were related to the absence of staffers, insufficient diet for children, and a lack of space to separate normal children from the COVID-19 infected children.
Abbot went on to call out the White House for remaining unperturbed about the whole situation. “The Biden Administration is now presiding over the abuse of children,” the governor said.
He also told the reporters that the matters have become so bad that now children’s lives are at stake and yet, the White House remains nonchalant. The best thing to do would be to just close down the entire facility.
