New York (WABC) Around 8,000 runners have registered for Saturday’s Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K in Manhattan, which serves as a type of warm-up for Sunday’s TCS New York City Marathon.

New York City’s 3.1-mile race begins near the United Nations in Midtown East and ends at the marathon’s finish line at Central Park.

Since the 2019 marathon, this is the biggest field for an endurance event in New York City.

All five Olympians in the field, as well as 20 other championship winners, are competing in the race.

The first male and female finishers will each get $1,500.

TCS NYC Marathon’s Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K is an opportunity to be a part of the most famous race. Runners will zoom through Manhattan’s streets and cross the finish line of the renowned New York City Marathon in Central Park without having completed the full 26.2 kilometers!

The warm-up race will be held on TCS NYC Marathon Saturday for any runners who want to participate in the marathon celebrations. Midtown Manhattan can be explored at breakneck speed on a tour of Central Park. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a marathoner or a non-marathoner, you are welcome.
