There has been a new Spiderman for every decade since the 2000s, but Marvel’s Peter Parker played by Tom Holland might be the one with the most to lose. The newest Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer has been released just today, and the stakes have never been higher.
With the introduction of the multiverse, first in Marvel’s animated ‘Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse’ in 2018, and then gradually in Marvel’s other live-action projects such as the ‘Loki’ series, the stage has been set perfectly for all three versions of Spiderman to unite. Even though there is no confirmation on whether Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman will be joining Tom Holland in the much-awaited movie, the audience has high expectations that they will show up due to many reasons.
Even after the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer does not show either of the previous Spidermans, the audience still has their hopes up regarding their arrival. And it would seem justified as well, since many of the previous iconic villains such as Doc Ock, Electro and Green Goblin are seen to be uniting against Peter in the trailer.
#SpiderManNoWayHome is trending on Twitter, as the audience grapples with more at stake than was previously disclosed in the teaser before the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer. One concerning plot point is the fate of everyone’s favorite MJ, played by Zendaya, who is seen falling from the side of a building, very similar to how Gwen Stacy does in ‘The Amazing Spiderman 2’.
Twitter user Clarkisha wrote, “I refuse to believe that this movie is gonna Gwen Stacy™️ MJ. I will be inconsolable.” Mirroring what everyone has been feeling since watching the MJ and Gwen Stacy parallel. Another user Imaan wrote, “i can’t go through this again #spidermannowayhome”, with a heartbreaking edit of both the scenes together.
The film is set to premiere around the world on December 17, as theatres are gradually getting back to their normal
audience traffic before Covid. Watch the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer here if you still have not been bombarded with screencaps and excited people all over the internet.
