Following Bruce Willis’ revelation that he will be retiring from acting as a result of his aphasia diagnosis, Rumer Willis is speaking out about the influence her father has had on her life.
She thanked her father on Friday for instilling in her a sense of humor throughout her childhood and adolescence.

Celebrities expressed their support and admiration for Bruce and his family after Rumer’s message went viral. Heart emoticons were used by stars including Aarib Paul, Delilah Belle Hamlin, and Evan Rachel Wood in the comments area.
“Sending good vibes well wishes and so much love to you and your whole family. My thoughts and my heart are with you,” wrote model Christie Brinkley.
“Sending you all so much love. Thank you for sharing all these beautiful photos of your father and your family,” Carrie Ann Inaba commented.
Aphasia, a neurological disorder that impairs one’s capacity to interpret or express words, was recently discovered in the 67-year-old actor, and his family revealed the news on Instagram. It has been affecting his cognitive ability, according to his relatives.
“As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” read the statement which was signed by Willis’ wife, his ex-wife Moore, and his 5 children, Rumer, Tallulah, Evelyn, Scout, and Mabel.
“We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him,” they said. “As Bruce always says, ‘Live it up’ and together we plan to do just that.”
An aphasia diagnosis might be based on a wide range of factors. Stroke and head injury are common causes, but it may also be caused by a slow-growing tumor or degenerative illness like Alzheimer’s. Speech therapy and nonverbal communication are the primary methods of treatment.
The source of Willis’ aphasia wasn’t discussed by his family. The actor’s representatives refused to make any more comments.
