Republican Senator Rand Paul received a dubious package at his home address of Kentucky, which was filled with suspicious white powder and had a bruised, battered and bandaged picture of Paul with a gun pointed on his head inscribed on the cover. A profane and threatening message was written below the picture, which said “I’ll finish what your neighbor started you motherf—–”
In 2017, Rand Paul was physically assaulted by a neighbor Rene Boucher while working in his yard. Boucher’s assault caused severe injuries to the senator resulting in broken ribs. Rene Boucher pleaded guilty later on for assaulting a Congressman.
Rand Paul has experienced assault and verbal arguments with a lot of people belonging to different circles of life because of his outspoken nature. Paul and his wife Kelly were intercepted by a mob while going back from the White House to their hotel after Donald Trump’s Republican National Convention Acceptance Speech. The mob quickly grew from a handful of people to a number of hundreds. The couple got surrounded by the mob and police were called upon to rescue the couple safely to the hotel.
The FBI and Capitol Hill police are jointly investigating the suspicious package; the senator’s adviser told the media. Sergio Gor stated that the package is being examined for toxic or harmful substances.
A spokesperson of the FBI, Tim Beam, stated that the FBI is working closely with the Warren County Sheriff’s office and the Capitol police to investigate the suspicious package. The FBI is offering complete technical assistance and forensic support to the local authorities.
The law enforcement agencies have also taken the US Postal Service in loop to catch the unknown sender of the package. The sender of the suspicious parcel is still unknown.
Paul released an official statement stating that he takes these death threats very seriously and has been a target of violence repeatedly. Paul blamed Twitter for allowing certain celebrities to slur violent remarks on him and his family while encouraging the trend of speaking against someone who opposes your ideology.
Rand Paul took the name of famous American singer Richard Marx stating that he had threatened him over the weekend by his tweet and today he received the suspicious package.
Richard Marx who was a popular singer during the 1980s and 1990s had tweeted last Sunday, “I’ll say it again: if I ever meet Rand Paul’s neighbor I’m going to hug him and buy him as many drinks as he can consume.”
Marx did not respond to the claims made by Rand Paul.
Rand Paul who is an ophthalmologist by profession had gained attention on Sunday when he had claimed that he will not get himself vaccinated as he already contracted the disease in March 2020.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that this is not the case, even if you were infected by the coronavirus, you still need to get yourself vaccinated.
