President Joe Biden has finalized the plan to buy 200M more vaccine doses in the wake of the death toll crossing the 475,000 marks. The contract was signed with Moderna and Pfizer for providing additional 100 million doses each.

The Biden Administration has been working on plans to accelerate the vaccination administration drive throughout the country. The President has also announced that these ‘additional’ doses will be delivered by May, instead of June as planned earlier.

The Biden Administration is taking all the steps to push its limits in curtailing the virus. This ‘urgency factor’ was missing from the former president’s agenda. The concerned officials were dismayed to see that the vaccine supply had been far lower than the actual numbers.

Biden had earlier visited the National Institutes of Health (NIH) along with the Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci. He was very pleased with the progress of the vaccine production process and appreciated the scientists of the agency for contributing in developing the vaccines.

President Biden is running against time. He had claimed that 100 million vaccine doses would be administered to the general public during the first 100 days of his tenure.

There is a huge gap between the demand and supply of COVID-19 vaccines. Many Americans are still struggling to get appointments for their vaccine shots.

Another breakthrough for the Biden Administration came when the NFL agreed to turn all of the stadiums into inoculation sites. This will surely accelerate the vaccination drive further. President Biden has once again emphasized that people must follow the SOPs. He has called wearing a mask ‘a patriotic responsibility’.

The United States witnessed an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases in January since the pandemic began. Almost half a million Americans have lost their lives in the wake of this global pandemic.
