Potsdam, a small northern town of New York has always been on the map but it got rediscovered by the people of the western side of New York during the vaccination days.

The snow-covered landscape and a small-town serene landscape were met with a surprise from people who went from main New York city to get themselves vaccinated.

The small town with a population of 16,000, hit a milestone last week when they surpassed the number of 50,000 vaccinations administered in their vicinity. The locals are very proud of achieving this milestone. They are overwhelmed to be part of what everyone thinks is a closing chapter of the grimmest era in American history.

The small town of Potsdam is situated at the northwestern tip of New York state, only about 20 miles from the Canadian border. The Canadian city of Ottawa is only an hour’s drive away.

Potsdam became the go-to-site for New Yorkers to receive their vaccination shots when they had to wait for longer for their turn at the assigned vaccination centers within their vicinity. The appointments were readily available at Potsdam’s SUNY location. Many New Yorkers had heard about Potsdam but discovered it for the first time and were taken aback by its mesmerizing beauty.

It is less than two hours away from the famous Whiteface mountain and the Titus mountain and is only miles away from the St. Lawrence River that attracts tourists in summers.

On average, about 1000 to 2000 people receive their shots daily. The procedure is remarkably smooth; even though a lot of action is going on at the vaccination site which is located inside MAXCY Hall, Potsdam’s athletic complex which covers a huge 33,000 square feet of space.

The mayor of Potsdam town Reinhold “Ron” Tischler is a proud man. He is absolutely overwhelmed with the accolades he has received for administering the COVID-19 vaccines to such a large population. The health care staff did not refuse anyone and everyone was facilitated on the issued date. Mayor further claimed that it was an ideal location to get vaccinated as the people get to discover and explore the North countryside of New York.
