Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo visited the White House as a step to encourage young people and her fans to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Rodrigo met President Joe Biden and the chief medical adviser of the USA for Covid-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci.

“I am beyond honored and humbled to be here today to help spread the message about the importance of youth vaccination,” said Rodrigo while standing at the press briefing room podium of the White House.

The youth vaccination rates lag significantly and it is way behind the landmark set by the federal government.

The 18-year-old pop star also recorded a video to encourage the younger generation to get themselves vaccinated. The video will be telecasted on all the social media platforms of the pop star as well as from the social accounts of the White House.

Rodrigo has over 28 million subscribers across her different social media channels. She became an instant star from her hit singles “good 4 u” and “Drivers License.”

According to a White House official, Olivia Rodrigo will be recording more videos in order to raise awareness among the younger citizens of America regarding the importance of getting themselves vaccinated. She will also answer important questions and queries of the young people to satisfy their concerns.

The White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki stated that Rodrigo had volunteered herself to come to the White House and educate the young people to get themselves vaccinated.

Psaki added that not every young artist would have come forward to use their time and do something constructive for the nation, and the administration appreciates her efforts.

The visit is seen as an effort to get people vaccinated as the novel coronavirus surges again, especially as the very contagious Delta strain spreads across the country. As per the latest reports, Delta strain has become the source of most of the cases being reported in the United States of America and is spreading rapidly in the areas where the vaccination rate is low.

According to the latest data from US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; a very less percentage  of children aged between 12 till 15 are completely vaccinated in America which is very less compared to other age groups. This particular age group became eligible to get vaccinated 2 months ago to receive BioNTech/Pfizer covid-19 vaccine.

Olivia’s visit to the White House was part of the efforts announced by the Biden administration; that they will be increasing their efforts to get younger ones vaccinated by providing the vaccines to the pediatricians and other medical practitioners who examine young people or the adolescent ones’ age between 12 -18.
