The police have responded to an explosive device report in a car close to the US Capitol and numerous buildings are evacuated nearby according to the sources from law enforcement.
On Thursday via Twitter, the US Capitol Police confirmed they were investigating a bomb threat. The officials on the scene are talking to the suspect, according to two sources of law enforcement. The pick-up truck was reportedly not registered by the man.
In view of an alarming car given to workers by CNN, the two famous libraries of Congress buildings, the Madison and the Jefferson, along with the building of the Cannon House, are being evacuated.
On Thursday, employees of the Madison and Jefferson buildings were told to stay cool and move – but not to go to First Street. Cannon’s residents were told to escape inside the Longworth House Office Building via the underground passageways of the Capitol.
The Senate and Parliament are not in session, and at the time the majority of parliamentarians are not in office.
The Police has also evacuated the Supreme Court according to a court spokesperson. Now, due of Covid-19, the court is closed to the public.
The FBI asserted in a statement that the National Capital Response Squad is investigating the incident and ATF is also responding to the threat.
