The New York City Police are hunting an attacker who was caught on a video brutally beating a 65-year-old woman. As per reports, the woman was on her way to church and was attacked by an assailant who chanted anti-Asian sentences before beating the old woman brutally. The entire scene was caught on the surveillance video from inside a lobby in Midtown.
One of the sources exclaimed that the suspect yelled, “F—k you, you don’t belong here”.
The assailant kicked the elderly lady in the stomach which caused her to fall down on the ground immediately. He further proceeds to pummel her while she was lying on the ground, continuously kicking her head and body.
It was clear in the video that the security guard nearby did not render any aid or help to the woman. Instead, he closed the doors of Midtown after the attack.
The video footage showed several eyewitnesses watching by as the suspect stomps on an elderly lady’s face while hurling anti-Asian sentiments.
The woman was later shifted to the NYU Langone Hospital with multiple injuries on her body along with a fractured pelvis. Her condition is reported to be stable.
The incident took place at Brodsky’s organization. The group announced the suspension of the staff who witnessed the incident but did not go ahead to help the lady under attack.
The brutal attack has been termed a hate crime. NYPD has reported nearly 33 hate crimes against Asians since the beginning of this year.
NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the incident closely and has asked the general public to help them catch the culprit. It has been maintained that whoever comes forward with the information to the department will remain anonymous.
Rep. Grace Meng has called out the sudden increase in hate crimes especially against the Asian descent people as truly sickening.
Government Andrew Cuomo has directed the New York State Police Hate Crime Task Force to assure that this situation is curtailed as it can leave long life painful consequences on the victims.
