The nominations for MTV VMA 2021 were released yesterday where Justin Bieber leads the list with as many as 7 nominations. He was closely followed by Megan thee Stallion, BTS, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Giveon, Drake, Lil Nas X.

Justin Bieber was nominated for artist of the year, video of the year, best direction for “Pop Star”, best pop song, best collaboration, best editing, and best cinematography.

Megan thee stallion followed closely by clinching 6 nominations, mostly for her over-the-top record-breaking song “WAP”. She received nominations for video of the year, best hip-hop song, best collaboration. She was also nominated for the best hip-hop song category for her collaboration with Lil baby “On Me.”

Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, BTS, Rodrigo, and Lil Nas X all got five nominations each,

Megan and Bieber will be facing each other and competing with Doja Cat, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Olivia Rodrigo for the “artist of the year” award.

It will be a close call for the song of the year as the current music giants are competing in this category. The WAP which saw Cardi B and Megan the stallion in collaboration will be competing with “leave the door open” by Bruno Mars, silk sonic, and Anderson. Paak. BTS the Korean pop band is also in the league with their world hit song “Dynamite” whereas “driver’s license” by Olivia Rodrigo and “levitating” by Dua Lipa will make it all the more difficult for the jury to select the song of the year.

The MTV VMA 2021 is scheduled to take place on 12th September at the Barclays Center in New York City. The show will be telecasted simultaneously from comedy central, CMT, Nickelodeon, MTV2, Pop, TV Land, Paramount Network, VH1, and The CW Network.
