Michelle Dockery confirms her engagement news with Jasper Waller-Bridge six years after mourning fiancé John Dineen’s death!
After three years of intimacy, Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery revealed that she is tying a knot with the Emmy Award winner, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s brother, Jasper Waller-Bridge.
Jasper, 34, and Michelle, 40, first revealed to The Times that the couple is getting engaged. Reportedly, the two met back in 2019 through friends and made their debut at the Rome Film Festival.
“The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle Dockery, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex” reads the announcement news.
While Michelle Dockery is known for her popular appearance in Downton Abbey as Lady Mary Crawley, Jasper made his name with his years of experience in the Entertainment industry as a TV and film producer.
The Emmy and Golden Globe awards nominee is expected to reprise her character as Lady Mary in the upcoming volume. In 2017, while speaking to The Guardian, the actress revealed how her life turned 360 degrees following her fiancé’s death due to cancer. He was just 34, told the actress.
The star further revealed how she dealt with her better half’s illness as she said, “I never lost hope. No. I’m not exaggerating when I say that John did not complain once, never, not once, and that gave us strength. It’s what keeps you going, that positivity – to never lose that hope for a miracle. I couldn’t have done it any other way.”
While talking about her life, the actress said that she played Mary, the young widow’s character so well, as it was similar to her real life. “We were engaged and married at heart, and so I do consider myself a widow” she added.
John and Michelle began dating in 2013, following the two were introduced to each other by Allen Leech, Michelle’s co-star in Downton Abbey. The couple kept avoiding the limelight, however, Michelle briefly spoke about their budding relationship in 2014 as she said, “I have a wonderful man in my life from Ireland”. Following that year, John proposed to the actress.
