The suspected murder-suicide that occurred in a suburb of Massachusetts claimed the lives of four members of the same family, according to the authorities.
The bodies of the relatives were discovered in Lynn, Massachusetts, which is located around 20 kilometers (13 miles) north of Boston. It seemed as if gunshot wounds were the cause of death for three male victims.
The office of the District Attorney for Essex County also identified a female suspect, but the investigators think that she might have committed suicide by shooting herself.
According to officials, on Tuesday at around 2:53 p.m., officers from the Lynn Police Department responded to reports of gunfire.
The bodies of two males, aged 34 and 66, were soon discovered by the police.
Two hours later, the body of the female suspect was recovered inside her vehicle in the parking lot of a Stop & Shop store.
Later, investigators discovered another dead body inside a vehicle in Lynn, and they realized that all of the victims were connected in some way.
“An initial investigation determined that a 31-year-old female was a potential suspect,” the DA’s office stated, according to WFXT.
Christopher Reddy, the head of police in Lynn, has reassured the community that there is no danger to the general populace as the investigation into the alleged murder-suicide continues.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims.
