The Country Music Association hosted it’s 2021 Awards on Wednesday night and it was full of tears and emotions for many. Chris Stapleton won the most in numbers, taking home 6 big awards, except for Entertainer of The Year, which was awarded to Luke Combs.

Alan Jackson handed a very emotional Luke Combs as the singer struggled to articulate his feelings over the biggest win of the night. “I have never written a speech for something like this, which is not serving me very well right now…I don’t deserve to win it”, said an overjoyed Combs adding, “but I’m sure as hell glad that I did.”

Last year the award went to Eric Church, which was also the first time Luke Combs was nominated for it, making this win his second nomination. Apart from speculation on Entertainer of The Year award, Female Vocalist was another category of suspense. The award went to Carly Pearce, making it the night’s second surprise, as she won for the first time.

Chris Stapleton otherwise pretty much swept the night with 6 awards in 4 different categories, as he bagged Song, Single of the year, and Album of the year for “Starting Over”. He won for the producer, the artist, as well as songwriter for the, said single, in addition to Male Vocalist of The Year for the fifth time in a row.

Other than that, Brothers Osborne won fourth Vocal Duo of The Year, and Old Dominion, the fourth Group of The Year. Jimmie Allen won Best New Artist, with many other Black Artists being the highlight of the award ceremony, with both wins as well as performances.

The night was especially emotional for T.J. Osborne of Brothers Osborne, apart from Luke Combs, who came out gay this year, and Jimmie Allen, who was the second Black performer to win New Artist in history. T.J. Osborne addressed the audience after his win regarding his doubts about people supporting him after he came out, “This is not just a ‘We love you’ text. This is people wanting to pick us up and carry us on. Out of all the crazy shit in this world that gets a lot of attention, something positive happened tonight.”
