The crucial boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul was originally scheduled for Feb. 20 before being postponed indefinitely. Yesterday, both Mayweather Promotions and Showtime Boxing took to Twitter to announce June 6 as the new date for the duel. The match is scheduled to take place in the Hard Rock Stadium of Miami Gardens, Florida.
When the battle was announced earlier this year, little details were divulged about the event before the postponement itself. Right after the delay was announced, Logan Paul ran a video of himself on YouTube, stating that the impact of Covid-19 was the prime reason for the sudden delay in one of the most hyped matches to date.
Despite the delay, Paul confirmed that the battle with Mayweather was still on. He acknowledged that Mayweather was a tough component and to face him, Paul needed “much practice, training, sparring” under his belt.
It is important to note that Logan Paul had gained massive fame during his time as a star at Disney Channel. After being a part of a controversial case, Paul was forced to bid adieu to the channel and work on his own. During his time alone, he only gained more popularity by using social media to garner not only a large fan following, but also increase ranks on his profile. Even while Paul wasn’t affiliated with a channel, he continued to stir controversy- a major contribution to his current standing in the industry. Despite having a knack for acting, Logan Paul does not have much experience in the domain of boxing. He has only fought once as a professional and that too, he lost to social media fame KSI in 2019.
On the other hand, Mayweather has years of experience and a highly successful track record in time. Despite having retired in 2015, Mayweather emerged as a winner again when he defeated Conor McGregor in 2017. He also went on to defeat kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 and is still regarded as one of the best boxers of all time.
The match between the two parties has fueled the interest of many people across the globe. Who emerges as the winner on June 6; only time will tell.
