One of the best footballers on the field, Lionel Messi bid a tearful farewell to his debutant club in a press conference on Sunday.
Lionel Messi, who had to meltdown in the last press conference as a Barca player, was very emotional the minute he entered the room.
He delivered his final news conference stating that this is one of the exceptionally difficult moments of his career.
He was reduced to tears after stating that
“the truth is that nothing came out, I was blocked as I am still now. It is very difficult for me after so many years, after making my whole life here. I was not prepared for this.”
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner joined the Spanish league’s Barcelona club at the tender age of 13; he stated that I am leaving after spending 21 years of my life. I have lived my life here. I have promised my three children and wife that we will return here as this is home to us even if we have to live somewhere else for a few years.
Both Messi and the club had reached a deal for a new contract but sadly because of the financial condition of the Barca club and the protocols of La Liga’s Financial Fair Play (FFP), the club had to let go of its star player.
Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona club stated that
“renewing Messi carried certain risks but we cannot put the club at greater risk”
According to the sources, Messi will be moving to the Paris Saint-Germain club as a mutual deal has been reached. PSG has offered a 3-year deal to Messi and if the rumors are correct, Messi will be traveling to Paris to officially sign the contract and then represent the Ligue 1 club in an event hosted at the Eiffel tower.
