Lily James & Sebastian Stan rarely came out of their characters while they were shooting for the much-hyped Hulu series Pam & Tommy.
The upcoming miniseries is all set to premiere on 2nd February. The lead actors made a promotional appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and discussed their experience while shooting and how much pressure they had to showcase the real incident of Pam & Tommy’s leaked sex tape.
32-year-old Lily James confessed that she and her lead co-actor “never really saw each other outside of character”.
Pam & Tommy revolves around the famous sex tape scandal in the 90s of drummer Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson.
“It’s true,” Stan, 39, said. “I texted Lily early on, I said, ‘Listen, I’m scared sh–less, and I’m gonna need to hold your hand, and if you want to hold mine, we’re here, we’re in this together.’
“And then I didn’t see her outside of Pamela until the end of the shoot,” he added.
The duo expressed that they were absolutely “terrified” while playing such iconic roles.
“I think we were both just terrified to play these characters,” Stan said. “They’re real-life people. I don’t have tattoos on my body. I think we both would just, on repeat, listen to their voices and their interviews. And — I know we both did this — we would actually scream into pillows in between the scenes because I was trying to get my voice raspy to sound like him, and you were doing that too. So I was like, ‘You’re screaming into a pillow as well?!’ “
“I think everyone thought we were literally losing our minds in our trailers!” James added jokingly.
Pam & Tommy also stars Nick Offerman, Seth Rogen, and Taylor Schilling. The miniseries is supposed to comprise eight parts. The first three episodes are scheduled to be released this Wednesday. The first three episodes of Pam & Tommy are directed by renowned director Craig Gillespie who is also known for his iconic 2017 film – I, Tonya.
