Kailia Posey, the star of “Toddlers & Tiaras,” is said to have committed suicide.
Posey’s family announced the terrible cause of death in a statement to TMZ on Tuesday — a day after the 16-year- old’s death was first reported by the media.
“Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life,” the family told the outlet.
Marcy Posey Gatterman, Posey’s mother, first announced the devastating news of her daughter’s death on Facebook on Monday night.
“I don’t have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone,” she wrote. “Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever.”
Earlier in the week, Gatterman had shared images of Posey attending prom only a few days before she died.
On the TLC reality series, Posey was a young star who appeared in episodes that aired from 2009 to 2013. The show followed a group of families as they prepared their children to participate in beauty pageants. When her wicked smile went viral, she quickly became a famous GIF.
Kailia Posey stated on Instagram in January that she was preparing to compete for the title of Miss Washington Teen USA, which would be held in February.
