It’s been a tough time for Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey Baldwin as they have experienced health issues back to back, but the difficulties have only made the couple’s bond stronger.
In March, Hailey Baldwin, 25, suffered a ministroke when a blood clot moved from her heart to the brain. Justin Bieber, 28, then disclosed on June 10 in a confessional IG video that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which is a rare neurological illness caused by a recurrence of the same virus responsible for causing chickenpox and shingles. It paralyzed the right side of his face, causing him unable to smile or blink.
“Hailey has been so supportive of Justin, just like he supported her with her health issues,” a friend of the couple told PEOPLE. “They’re unbreakable.”
According to Hailey, who appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan on June 15 to promote her new skincare brand Rhode, she and Bieber are now “closer than ever.”
“I think honestly the silver lining in what I went through, what he went through, is it really bonds you,” she said.
“He’s going to be alright,” she assured him. “This is simply an out-of-the-blue, strange occurrence.”
The young pair initially met backstage on the Today program in 2009, when Hailey was introduced to the pop sensation by her father, actor Stephen Baldwin.
