Teenage icon, hair accessory aficionadothe, and LGBTQ+ representative; JoJo Siwa creates history by becoming the first-ever same-sex couple on the celebrity-bound dancing show – dancing with the stars.

The Youtuber who first came out in January 2021 with her sexual orientation; will compete with the rest of the competitors having a professional female partner in the upcoming ABC’s ballroom dancing show.

Jojo Siwa who is only 18 exclaimed that “she was excited to be making history. This has never happened on dancing with the stars before. It’s always been a boy-girl couple.”

The professional dance partner of the teen icon has not been disclosed yet but according to the reports Siwa was adamant to have a female partner since the beginning when she was first approached by the show’s producers. She stated that “she told the producers that she would love and prefer to dance with a girl in order to drive home the message that you can love whomever you want to love.”

Dancing with the stars will be following the footsteps of UK based show Strictly come Dancing which is equivalent to Dancing with the stars as it had the first-ever same-sex dancing couple in 2020   – boxer Nicola Adams and Katya Jones.

Jojo Siwa exclaimed that “I thought that if I chose to dance with a girl on this show, it would break the stereotypical thing. I have a girlfriend who is the love of my life and who is everything to me. My journey of coming out and having a girlfriend has inspired so many people around the world.”

The same-sex couple on the show will be the first and a testing element on the primetime network. How the audience will take it – only time will tell!
