Blue Origin is all set to make its maiden human spaceflight next month! The owner of Blue Origin and CEO of Amazon; Jeff Bezos has announced to be on board on this spaceflight along with his brother Mark. He has already announced that he will step down as the chief executive of Amazon next month.
The founder of Amazon and Blue Origin announced officially that he will be making the trip to outer space next month with Blue Origin, the space company that he founded almost 20 years ago. This will be the first human spaceflight of Blue Origin which is said to last ten minutes.
Jeff Bezos took over Instagram to make this official announcement stating that since the age of five years old, he has dreamt of traveling in outer space. He wants his brother Mark to join him in this expedition of making his dream come true who is also his best friend.
Space exploration has taken over the world by storm with quite a lot of companies announcing human spaceflights out of planet earth. Bezos beats Elon Musk, who is another space enthusiast and deploys much of his energy and money on space investigation and expeditions.
Bezos’ announcement comes as a shock to the competitors of Blue Origin such as SpaceX and Virgin Galactic. Both of these companies had announced trips around the planet carrying humans but had not announced the date of the expedition. This first human spaceflight will be carrying one of the most prolific passengers of planet earth- Jeff Bezos himself.
The trip announcement has reignited the hopes of Blue Origin to take over the spacecraft companies industry as well as regaining back all the attention on the company who has kept a low profile compared to its competitors and just recently lost to Elon Musk’s SpaceX who won the bid of building the next lander which will supposedly carry the astronauts from NASA to the moon.
None of the owners of Blue Origin’s competitor companies have announced themselves traveling to outer space. Elon Musk did hint at being interested in traveling to planet Mars but that seems too far-fetched at the moment. SpaceX has announced a mission scheduled for September which will be carrying billionaire Jared Isaacman along with three other astronauts to a trip in the orbit of the earth.
Virgin Galactic, which was founded by Richard Branson in 2004 has been long anticipating to travel to outer space on his manufactured aircraft but it keeps on getting delayed. The Virgin Galactic did its flight test last month so it seems like Branson may see his dream come true of traveling to outer space later this year.
Jeff Bezos stated that he thinks he will be a new man after returning from his journey to outer space. He said he wants to be on this flight as this is something he has anticipated to do all his life.
