I wanna dance with somebody – the Whitney Houston biopic that will soon hit the cinemas generated quite a stir with its sneak peek recently.
The brief look at the upcoming Whitney Houston starrer caught everyone in awe as the transformation of Naomi Ackie as Houston for her role was phenomenal.
A brief clip was released where Naomi Ackie can be seen donning the signature curls of the legendary Whitney Houston with a getup in pastel shade as she gracefully exuberates a performance on the title track of the film – I wanna dance with somebody.
British actress Naomi Ackie was totally unrecognizable in this brief sneak peek of the film where she can be seen reinventing the “star-spangled banner” performance of Whitney Houston at the Super Bowl event of 1991.
The sneak peek was an exclusive event as the footage from the film has not been released anywhere officially.
The first poster of the film was released recently where the fans gasped at the transformation of Ackie as Whitney Houston for her role.
I wanna dance with somebody is directed by Stella Meghie who directed the phenomenal the photograph whereas it is written by Anthony McCarten. The same writer was the creative head behind the biopic of Queen named as “Bohemian Rhapsody” which bagged four Oscars including the best actor award for Rami Malek who underwent an astonishing transformation for the title role of Freddie Mercury.
One of the producers of the film is Clive Davis – the music mogul who was the main man who chaperoned the career of Whitney Houston. He stated that the biopic will give an unfolded insight into Whitney’s life that has never been told before. It will be striving to tell a “very realistic, very honest story” regarding her music career as well as her life.
CLive Davis stated in a recent interview that the audition tape of Ackie was spellbinding. “We were very impressed that Whitney’s persona was being captured,” Davis said. “The (singing) voice, of course, will be Whitney’s. When it came to Whitney, we just didn’t think anyone could capture her vocal genius so it will be the Whitney voice in the film.”
Ashton Sanders will be seen in the role of Bobby Brown, the late Whitney Houston’s husband whereas Stanley Tucci will be playing the role of Clive Davis in I wanna dance with somebody.
