Elton John has to postpone his much-hyped Dallas concerts after the artist contracted Covid a week following resuming his farewell tour.
After two years of hiatus, the 74-year-old singer had returned to the line by resuming his famous “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour last week in New Orleans.
“Elton John’s concerts at American Airlines Center in Dallas have been postponed after the singer tested positive for Covid-19, according to a statement from the arena”, CNN Tweeted.
John’s Farewell tour began after more than 50 years on the road, in 2018. However, it was initially postponed due to surging Covid cases, and then Sir Elton needed a hip bone surgery following a fall back in September of the previous year.
After revealing to the audience that he had been tested positive for Covid, the artist said his symptoms are moderate so far and that he is expecting to go Arkansas for his upcoming performance by the end of the week.
“Hi everyone, wanted to send a message to let you know that I have contracted Covid and so have had to reschedule my shows in Dallas,” wrote John. “If you have tickets, you’ll be contacted with the new dates really soon.
“It’s always a massive disappointment to move shows and I’m so sorry to anyone who’s been inconvenienced by this but I want to keep myself and my team safe. Fortunately, I’m fully vaccinated and boosted and my symptoms are mild so I’m fully expecting to be able to make the Arkansas shows this weekend.
“As always, thank you for all your love and support and I can’t wait to see you all soon!”
Following Adele’s Las Vegas event postponement, John makes the second on the list whose performance got affected due to Covid.
Adele’s “Weekends with Adele” was scheduled for January 21st to celebrate her trending Album 30. however, due to the Covid surge, the singer had to postpone her event, due to which she received tremendous criticism from her fans.
After announcing the postponed news, Adele said, “the show has absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid”, and that “half the crew were down with the virus”.
Elton John will perform across the state and wrap his US tour by April, after which he will embark on his European part of the tour. Last year in Nov, John announced his two very special shows at Vicarage Road, Watford football club, to climax his tour in July.
