Ellen DeGeneres, famous for her TV talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, is being heavily criticized on social media after publicly admitting that she took her wife, Portia de Rossi, to the hospital only after consuming three weed drinks and taking two OTC sleeping pills, Page Six reported.
She did acknowledge the fact that she was being irresponsible in doing so while sharing her thoughts on Jimmy Kimmel live! When Ellen reached home, she found de Rossi on the bathroom floor and it was obvious that she’s in pain. However, the famous TV show host and comedian only took her wife for an emergency appendectomy after consuming sleep aid melatonin and three weed drinks.
While explaining the incident to Jimmy, she admitted that she drank one but couldn’t feel its impact. So she drank two more Cann (weed drinks) along with two sleeping pills and went to bed. It was on the bed that she realized that de Rossi was not beside her, the 63-year old comedian said.
According to Page Six, DeGeneres described that her wife was moaning. “I get out of bed, and she’s on the ground on all fours, and I said, ‘You’re not OK.’ She goes, ‘I’m OK.’ I said, ‘No, unless you’re playing Twister by yourself, you’re not OK.’ So I rushed her to the emergency room.”
This statement surprised the 53-year old comedian Kimmel, who then confirmed that did you drive her to the hospital all by yourself and DeGeneres said yes. She said that she understands it was not safe, but her adrenaline kicked in and she knew that Portia was in danger.
Although Ellen was repeatedly admitted that what she did was not safe, but she had to do it. This fact didn’t go down well with a lot of social media users who branded her “entitled” and “careless” for endangering the life of her wife and of the people on the road.
She was obviously high and despite Marijuana being legal, she was unfit to drive. Although during the marijuana-themed episode of the show, the host and the guest talked about a lot of other things but Jimmy refrained from asking her about the allegations Ellen and her producers have created a toxic workplace for the daytime talk show.
