The Los Angeles Police Department is actively searching for the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting of four persons that occurred on Thursday evening.
Near around 9:35 p.m., it was reported to the LAPD that there was a violent altercation at the intersection of 7th and Spring Street.
According to accounts from the Los Angeles Times, there were four people who had been shot at the site when police arrived. An individual was found to be in severe condition and was sent to the hospital. A victim sustained just a small wound and was treated on the spot, while the other two victims were rushed to the hospital and are in stable condition.
It was first claimed that there may have been up to four or five shooters; however, investigators are now reporting that the suspects are two black guys who left the scene on foot.
According to KTLA, the police have not yet determined a reason for the assault but haven’t ruled out the possibility that it was an act of random violence.
At this moment, the identities of the victims, who include three males and one female, are unknown.
There has been a surge in both theft and violent crime in Los Angeles, and state authorities are becoming more concerned about the situation. However, the officials seem largely powerless to stem the hazardous trend.
This year, the Los Angeles Police Department issued a warning to persons who wear pricey jewelry, noting that criminals may target them as a potential victim group.
The warning came after a smash-and-grab robbery took place at a jewelry shop in Beverly Hills on Tuesday, during which the perpetrators stole goods with a combined value of $5 million.
“Over the last year there has been a marked increase of armed robberies involving victims wearing expensive jewelry while in public,” a Los Angeles Police Department statement reads. “If it is visible, it can be a target.”
