As per the reports, multiple shooting episodes across the Denver area on Monday not only killed 4 but also injured 3 people, including a police officer as well. Moreover, as per the police reports, the suspect also died during shooting combat.
While finding out the motive behind this shooting spree that took place in Colorado’s capital, the Denver police chief, Paul M. Pazen stated, “This is the holiday season. To have this type of spree take place is not normal for our community,” in the press conference.
During this press conference, the police chief revealed that the shooting started just after 5 pm and the first targets of the shooter were two women in the central Denver area, where a man is also reportedly injured.
The next spot of the shooter was several blocks away from the central Denver area, where the suspect shot a man and got into combat with the police officers.
At around 6 pm, the suspect was in one of the nearest cities, Lakewood, where a report of shots being fired at business, John Romero was reported to the Lakewood police department, said one of the department’s spokespeople in a joint press conference with the Denver police chief. The man who was shot was pronounced dead at the location.
Mr. Romero reported to the reporters that the police caught the suspect and identified his vehicle, however, did not reveal his identity. Mr. Romero also added that the moment police found the gunman’s car, shooting combat between them started, and then the suspect fled to Hyatt hotel, where he shot another victim, reportedly a clerk.
While leaving the hotel, the suspect then shot one of the police officers as well who is in surgery. Moreover, Mr. Romero also told the reporters that the suspect was then shot on-site and was pronounced dead in Lakewood city. However, it is not clear if he was shot by the police officials.
As per the Denver chief, Paul M. Pazen, the preliminary pieces of evidence suggests that the same shooter who was shot dead in Lakewood city was the one involved in the previous shooting that occurred in the central Denver area and the police combat.
