It has been over a decade since Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen parted ways but it seems like they both haven’t moved on completely.

Denise Richards made an appearance on Dear Media’s podcast titled Divorced not Dead in the latest episode and went candid about her divorce from Charlie Sheen. She called it a “difficult” breakup and what went wrong among them.

The Two and a half men actor Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards got divorced back in 2005 while she was over six months pregnant. The divorce was shocking and very publicized at that time.

Denise remembered it as a difficult time stating that a lot of things led to the end of a union that began with love.

She stated “the behind-the-scenes stuff was way worse than what was out there,” saying that they did put a fake image of a happy family in front of the public but they were not happy at home. “It was really bad.”

Denise and Charlie both have two children, 18-year-old Sami and 17-year-old Lola.

Denise further said I would ask myself: “Would I want my daughters to be married to this man?”

“No offense to him, but I think he would take that and understand what I’m saying,” she continued. “It was very toxic.”

Despite the difficult and painful divorce, the actress still claims that not for a second does she regret marrying Charlie “because I really do feel that he and I were brought together to have our daughters.”

Denise also claimed that the couple tried to reconcile after the birth of their second daughter Lola but that brief period only made them realize that it’s best to end their union.

“It made me also know I could one day tell my girls that I did everything I could possibly do to make this family unit,” she said. “I felt the most guilty splitting up the family unit. I struggled with that for years.”

She added, “There is a lot that the public doesn’t know, and you never know what goes on behind closed doors. It was not a good situation.”

Denise Richards claims that their marriage might not have worked out but their relationship has truly “evolved” with time and they both are in a better place.

“To this day, Charlie does know he can call me at any time, no matter what,” she said. “I don’t care what he says or does, I will show up and be there because I always wanted him—and still do—to be the best dad for our daughters.”

Denise remarried in 2018 to a holistic medicine person called Aaron Phypers.

No comments have been made by Charlie since Denise’s confession on the podcast.
