Dave Chappelle, the famous comedian found himself amidst controversy following the release of his new Netflix special, ‘The Closer.’
Dave Chappelle’s anti-trans joke has led Netflix to lose one of their team members, Jaclyn Moore, who is also the executive producer of ‘Dear White People.’ The resignation comes amid Chappelle’s statement “Gender is a fact.”
On Thursday, Moore tweeted, “I will not work with them as long as they continue to put out and profit from blatantly and dangerously transphobic content,” which was followed by another tweet, “Those words have real consequences. Consequences that every trans woman I know has dealt with. Bruises and panicked phone calls to friends. That’s real.”
Following his “Gender is a fact,” comment, Chappelle also announces that he is a TERF (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist) while talking about anti-trans comments made by JK Rowling, the famous, ‘Harry Potter Series,’ author.
During the show, Dave also thought it would be the right place to address to DaBaby’s homophobic outburst that he made on the Rolling Loud Miami stage on July 5, 2021. “If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two or three days, then put your cell phone lighter up.”
Referring to Dababy’s comments, Chappelle said, “In our country, you can shoot and kill a [n-word], but you better not hurt a gay person’s feelings.”
While the show was filled withanti-trans statements, the closing was even furious, “I am not telling another joke about you until we are both sure that we are laughing together.” Following this,he added, “All I ask from your community — with all humility — will you please stop punching down on my people?”
