Country music sensation Toby Keith announces that he has been battling stomach cancer since last year.
The multi-platinum records-selling singer announced this Sunday that he has been undergoing treatment for the past six months and has already received radiation and chemotherapy post-surgery.
60-year-old legendary singer Toby Keith stated “so far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”
I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”
Toby Keith had been avidly performing across the country. After his announcement of battling with stomach cancer the status of his future concerts is unclear. He is scheduled to perform next in Wheaton, Illinois on the 17th of June as per his official website.
The Ohio State Fair announced that the 28 concerts in Columbus, Ohio of Toby Keith are canceled till further notice.
Elaine Schock, the publicist of Keith also stated in an email that a lot of tour dates are going to get canceled “but I’m not sure how many at this point.”
The foundation run by Toby Keith has been assisting young children battling with cancer for more than a decade now. It was established in 2006.
Toby Keith is known as one of the legendary country singers of the United States of America. He began his career in 1993 and took the world by storm. He has even made a successful crossover into pop music. His albums Unleashed in 2002 and Shock ‘n Y’ all in 2003 topped the charts of the US. As many as twenty singles of Keith have topped the country charts of the United States of America.
Keith has been known to sing about his love for country music which consists of love and drinking. Moreover, he is also a well-known songwriter and has even written pro-American songs the controversial “courtesy of the red, white and blue” which he wrote after the World Trade Center attack on 9/11.
