At least six people have been shot and killed in Chicago since Friday evening, according to the city’s police department.
On Friday night, just before 8:30 p.m., a man was killed in the first block of West 78th Place in the West Chatham area.
After an argument with a person on his porch, the man was shot many times by that acquaintance before leaving the scene, according to police. The man was shot three times, twice in the body and once in the head. Stroger Hospital declared him dead after he was taken there.
No one has been arrested for the shooting.
On South Ridgeland Avenue in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood, a woman, 27, was fatally shot in the hallway just after 7:15 p.m.
She was transferred to the University of Chicago Medical Center by the police, and there she was declared dead of a head wound.
Another non-fatal gunshot occurred in the Back of the Yards area just before 3 a.m. on Saturday.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, was shot while standing on the sidewalk, according to police. The man was shot in the chest and abdomen and sent to Oak Lawn’s Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was described as serious.
Another 26-year-old male was discovered with a gunshot wound to the chest in the Gresham neighborhood soon after 2:30 a.m.
Chicago had also been haunted by numerous shooting episodes the previous month.
