The Duke Energy power substation in Raleigh, North Carolina reported a man electrocuted to death inside the premises of the PowerStation; who was later identified as the brother of Chicago Bears player – Tarik Cohen.
Tyrell Antar Cohen; a 25-year-old man has been reported missing since Saturday night. Tarik Cohen had reportedly appealed on Twitter to help him find his missing brother; or if anyone has seen his brother in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The tweet has been deleted now.
According to the reports, Tyrell Antar Cohen’s family had filed a report of a missing person after he did not return home on Saturday. Police began a search operation immediately.
According to the law agencies, the reason for death is electrocution. It is believed that Cohen succumbed to death while trying to climb a part of electrical equipment and got electrocuted. He was a supposed suspect and was trying to hide from law enforcement agencies.
The official spokesperson of Wake County sheriff’s office Eric Curry held a press conference to address the matter; stating that Cohen entered the substation with his own will and that ended up taking his life.
Curry further said that Tyrell Cohen fled a car accident scene in Raleigh around 2 am. Law enforcement authorities began the search immediately but failed to find him. The authorities resumed their search after the missing-person report was filed by Cohen’s family later on Saturday.
A Duke Energy power station’s employee found the electrocuted body around 9 am in the perimeters of the substation and reported the authorities immediately.
Tyler Cohen’s brother, Tarik Cohen is an established footballer. He played college football for North Carolina A&T before starting his career with Chicago Bears.
Chicago Bears released an official statement stating that they are heartbroken after learning of the untimely demise of Tarik Cohen’s twin brother, Tyrell. Thoughts and prayers are with Tarik, mother Tilwanda, and the rest of the family and loved ones in these trying times. Chicago Bears extended their heartfelt sympathies and condolences to all those who are mourning the loss of Tyrell Anter Cohen.
Law enforcement agencies did not suspect any kind of foul play in Tyrell’s death.
