Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence are calling it quits!
Reportedly, Cheryl Burke, 37, has filed for a divorce from her husband, Matthew Lawrence,42, after 2.5 years of marriage, on Feb 18, revealed the court’s document, obtained by People.
“’DWTS’ professional Cheryl Burke records data for divorce from Matthew Lawrence”, Newsworldpress.com tweeted.
Burke listed the separation date as Jan 7 on the court’s documents, reasoning ‘irreconcilable differences’ for the split. The couple has made a ‘prenuptial agreement’, revealing the court’s record.
TMZ broke the divorce news first. Later, reporters from People attempted to reach out to the couple’s representative for comments.
The Dancing with the Stars pro and estranged husband met for the first time in 2006 when Joey Lawrence was appearing on the ABC competition series. Shortly after, the two began dating and separated just a year later.
However, the spark between the two reunited them nine years later in 2017.
“There was an attraction right away,” told Burke during an interview. “But we were both really young.”
In 2018, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ alum asked out Burke with a romantic proposal at the Montage Laguna Beach. A year later, the couple tied a knot at the Fairmont Grand del Mar in California.
Previously, Burke revealed that she gave up drinking at her engagement with Lawrence and credited her late father, who fought and quit alcoholism.
While talking about the marriage in an interview with People, Lawrence said, “The wedding was a surreal high.”
“I feel like the most blessed man on the planet” he added.
While Burke said, “It’s bittersweet because I’m really sad that it’s over. But at the same time, it’s calming. I feel like this is exactly what needed to happen for us.”
After filing for a divorce, Burke jokingly talked about her near ex-husband’s love for reptiles during the Kelly Clarkson Show.
“No snakes, that was the deal. I said no snakes,” said Burke. “So when we actually dated over a decade ago, I knew that I was marrying a guy who loves reptiles.”
The couple shares a dog named, Ysabella, also known as Ysa, which Lawrence got for Burke on their first wedding anniversary.
