Camila Cabello, 24, pulled back the curtains on her recent breakup with Shawn Mendes with her latest song full of pain and heartache!
The ‘I’m in Love with a Monster’ singer was in a PDA filled love relationship with Canadian singer and songwriter Shawn Mendes. However, last year, the two parted ways and announced it via a brief Instagram post.
“Camila Cabello teases lyrics from ‘Bam Bam’ and fans think it’s about Shawn Mendes”, Tweeted HollywoodLife.
While both singers have been tight-lipped about their breakup, Cabello, in her latest song, Bam Bam, seems to be referring to her broken relationship.
In her latest release, the ex-member of Fifth Harmony sings about the perils of adulthood, broken promises, and the importance of letting go and moving on.
The song lyrics read as “You said you hated the ocean but you’re surfing now / I said I love you for life but I just sold our house.
“We were kids at the start, I guess we’re grown-ups now. Couldn’t ever imagine even having doubts / But not everything works out.
“Now I’m out dancing with strangers, you could be casually dating / Damn, it’s all changing so fast.”
While the chorus of the new song adds: “Love came around and it knocked me down but I’m back on my feet.”
Last year in November, the Senorita singers shocked their fans after disclosing that they had ended their 2.5 years relationship.
They further said that they would remain friends, however, the PDA and infatuation between the two was over.
The split announcement read, “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.
“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward. Camila and Shawn.”
On the other hand, Shawn had already disclosed his side of the story by releasing a breakup song just a month after the split, which he titled “It’ll Be Ok”.
Later in his song release, Shawn Mendes revealed that he was ‘having a hard time’ getting through this phase.
“I just wanted to make a little video and say thank you to everybody who has been connecting with ‘It’ll Be Okay’ and posting videos.
“I’m having a little bit of a hard time with social media at the moment and just kind of my relationship with it”, said the singer on his Instagram.
