Buffalo, New York – A white gunman opened fire at a Buffalo supermarket killing 10 people on the spot and injuring 3 others here on Saturday afternoon.
According to the officials, the white gunman aged 18 years was dressed up in tactical gear and was enormously motivated by hatred and racism.
The officials stated that the suspect shot 13 people straight of which 11 belong to black ethnicity and two were white at the top friendly market located in Buffalo, New York.
The Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia stated that the suspect live-streamed the whole shooting episode on a social media platform.
The spokesperson of the said platform namely Twitch stated that the platform immediately took action and removed the live stream within the initial two minutes after the violent episode started after investigation and confirmation.
“This was pure evil,” Erie County Sheriff John Garcia said. “Straight up racially motivated, hate crime from somebody outside of our community — outside of the City of Good Neighbors, as the mayor said — coming into our community and trying to inflict evil upon us.”
It was alarming when late-night a manifesto started making rounds on the internet under the name of the suspected shooter. The manifesto was under the name of the suspect with the same biographical details and birthdate.
The author of the said manifesto claimed that his thoughts have been radicalized online and he strongly adheres to a false replacement theory which has often been used by white killers in the past as well. The same replacement theory suggests that it is justified to show violence against Muslims, Black people, Jewish, and Latinos across the globe.
The manifesto comprises a list of “high profile enemies’ ‘ and has called for their immediate assassination.
The list includes Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, and Hungarian- American billionaire George Soros.
Gendron seared that the mayor is “an open sign of the disenfranchisement and ethnic replacement of the British people in the British isles.
“This Pakistani Muslim invader now sits as representative for the people of London. Londinium, the very heart of the British isles. What better sign of the white rebirth than the removal of this invader?”
The authorities have started to investigate the authenticity of the document making rounds on different social media portals.
The document claimed that he targeted Buffalo because it is the city that has the most black population and was nearest to the residence of the author. The document gives continuous references to the gunman who killed 51 people in 2019 at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand.
“We are aware of the manifesto allegedly written by the suspect and we’re working to definitively confirm that he is the author,” the law enforcement official said.
The white suspect known as Payton S. Gendron is from Conklin, New york. He was remanded for a felony hearing without a bail scheduled to be heard early Thursday morning.
Attorney General Merrick B. Garland stated that “the justice department will be investigating this matter as a hate crime and an act of racially-motivated violent extremism.”
“The Justice Department is committed to conducting a thorough and expeditious investigation into this shooting and to seeking justice for these innocent victims,” said Garland.
President Joe Biden released an official statement saying he is grieving for the victims and praying for the people of Buffalo.
“A racially motivated hate crime is abhorrent to the very fabric of this nation,” he said. “Any act of domestic terrorism, including an act perpetrated in the name of a repugnant white nationalist ideology, is antithetical to everything we stand for in America.”
