The founder of Microsoft has been evidently working in combating the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

The co-founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has spent more than $120 million to make the antiviral Covid-19 medication and pills available for third world countries from the world-renowned pharmaceutical company Merck.

The Seattle-based foundation is one of the most influential privately owned foundations in the world with a staggering endowment of approximately $65 billion. The foundation was launched in 2000 by Bill Gates and Melinda Gates and even after the split between the couple, the foundation continued to grow and progress.

The couple released a joint statement stating “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the pair said in the joint statement at the time.

“We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives. We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this new life.”

The divorce was amicably finalized in August of 2021. The couple has three children, 26-year-old Jennifer, 19-year-old Phoebe, and son Rory who is 22-years-old. Bill Gates revealed that he will be taking a break from his work as he has self-isolated himself after testing positive for coronavirus. He will get back to work once he feels healthy and is corona free.
