Angelina Jolie expresses how she is witnessing her children becoming the best versions of themselves.

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the Maleficent actress opens up about how she admires watching her children grow old and inspire each other every day. The Oscar winner actress is mommy to Maddox 20 (the eldest), Pax, 17, Zahara 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who are now 13 years old.

Angelina Jolie, 46 revealed to PEOPLE about her children, “They’re pretty great people, and because there’s so many of them, I think they’ve had a very significant effect on each other. It’s not like I’m the head of anything. I’m very honest with my kids. And I’m very human with my kids.”

She further explained how she is “curious about all the different aspects of who they are when raising them” her priority is “to support and develop all the different aspects of who they are.”

The actress who loves to see her children making memories while growing up together says, “I have six very individual human beings in my home. I am so excited about all the different stages and feelings and curiosities that they go through. Why wouldn’t you be?” and added, “We’re supposed to help them figure out who they are. And you can’t figure out who they are if you don’t enthusiastically develop with them.”

Being the refugee advocate, the actress who worked alongside the UN admits that she had been “tough” when it came to parenting. As she said, “I’m not a perfect parent by any means,”

“Every day, I feel like I’m more aware of everything I don’t do right. And I’m pretty tough on myself because I often feel, ‘Am I doing the right thing? Did I says the right thing?’ “

While acknowledging her children’s love for their mother, Jolie said, “My children have done many, many loving things. My children’s kindness has been very healing to me.”
