Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has stated that the indoor face mask mandates guidance by the federal government is soon to be changed. He said that it is time to relax the indoor mask requirements as more people are getting vaccinated.
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will be updating the mandatory guidance anytime soon. The CDC already relaxed the outdoor masks advisory last month but it had set a strict regulation of mandatory masks in indoor public premises such as malls, museums or cinemas, etc.
A former commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, Scott Gottlieb endorsed Dr. Fauci’s statement by saying that the mask requirement should be relaxed now; as the COVID-19 risk is dropping and more people are getting vaccinated. He further stated that the indoor restrictions should be lifted on broader terms as the states have shown remarkable speed in vaccinating their population; resulting in a decrease in infection rate.
Gottlieb said that it will be wise to lift the indoor restrictions of face-covering as the infection rate decreases, giving a much-needed break to the public health officials who have been exhausted and overwhelmed from the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. It will be easier to re-implement the restrictions if the pandemic strikes again as the health officials would’ve been rejuvenated to combat the health crisis.
"We should be lifting the mask ordinances outside in a wholesale fashion, I think we should be lifting them in indoor settings as well in many states," says @ScottGottliebMD. "We've hit our own goal–we just are reluctant to relax the measures now." pic.twitter.com/BHoGLi4B25

The White House Covid-19 response coordinator Jeff Zients stated that the country is all set to turn a new leaf on the pandemic; as things have started to return to normalcy. He still stressed the importance of getting vaccinated.
Dr. Anthony Fauci predicted that the next mother’s day will be entirely different from the one celebrated this year. He said that a dramatic difference will be evident next year if the country continues to move in the right direction of getting vaccinated against coronavirus.
President Joe Biden has set a new goal of vaccinating almost 70% of the adult population of America by July 4th.
According to the CDC data, more than 112 million Americans which makes it about 34% of the population have been completely vaccinated whereas roughly 46% of the country’s population have received at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine.
